Focus and Scope

The Afrimedic Journal (AJ) is a semi-annual, multidisciplinary medical journal published by the Association of Resident Doctors, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, Anambra State, Nigeria. The purpose of this journal is to promote clinical and academic excellence in basic and clinical medical sciences as well as dentistry.

We consider any original work that advances or illuminates medical science or practice. Contributions may be in the form of review articles, original articles, case reports, short communications and letters to the editor. The AJ will also publish articles on socio-economic, political and legal matters related to medical practice; conference and workshop reports and medical news.

The journal allows free access to its contents. Therefore, authors are required to pay a token charge for processing and publication of manuscripts including color reproduction of photographs. All submissions are subject to peer review by the Editorial Board and by expert reviewers in appropriate specialties.

Only solicited editorials are accepted.

Review Article

A comprehensive review of a timely, important clinical subject along with an analysis of the topic by the author, leading to conclusions. It should not exceed 4000 words, and should contain subheadings.

Original Articles

A report of clinical or experimental investigation. The text should not exceed 4000 words, with up to five illustrations/tables.

Case Reports

New/interesting/very rare cases/issues can be reported. It should not exceed 1000 words with a maximum of two illustrations and twenty-five references.

Letter to the editor

Clinical observations or other relevant matters to medicine or comments on materials published in the AJ. Letters should contain a maximum of 1000 word, two illustrations and tables.

Special Publications

Texts/abstracts from medical seminars, workshops, dissertations, and conferences will be published by special arrangement. Texts should not exceed 4,000 words.

Peer Review Process

Two members of the Editorial Board read every article, including those solicited. All articles selected for publication (except for the items such as viewpoints) are then sent to two Consultants and Scientists who are experts in the field of medicine under focus for review. Those considered worthy of publication but requiring changes or condensation will be returned to the author(s) for revision. Accepted manuscripts are subject to editorial revision by AJ. Rejected manuscripts may be returned to the authors along with the reviewers’ comments.

Please note that manuscripts that do not follow the manuscript format may be returned to the authors for correction before proceeding to the review stage

 

Publication Frequency

This journal will be published semi-annually.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

 

General Information

Afrimedic Journal is an open access journal with the purpose of promoting clinical and academic excellence in Medicine and Dentistry. It is available in print and online versions. The journal considers for publication any original work that advances or illuminates medical science or practice. We welcome contributions from basic and clinical medical sciences as well as dentistry.

Authors are advised to have their manuscripts pre-reviewed by a colleague preferably from the same clinical specialty.

Contributions may be in the form of original articles, review articles, case reports, short communications and letters to the editor. The AJ will also publish articles on socio-economic, political and legal matters related to medical practice, conference and workshop reports and medical news.

Authors submitting articles to Afrimedic Journal do so with the understanding that these articles have not been previously published, or are not under consideration for publication anywhere else in the same or similar form.

 

Editorial Notice

All opinions unless otherwise stated reflect the views of the authors only. The price of a single print copy is three thousand naira only for individuals.
